Deciding which driver takes which job, all day, under pressure, is the hardest thing a dispatcher does. IDS is automating that decision for same-city courier and cartage work — and leaving the dispatcher in charge of it.
The problem
Every on-demand job is a decision under time pressure.
A same-day call comes in. Fourteen drivers are already moving, each with their own committed work, their own position, their own deadlines. Which one takes it — and what does giving it to them cost every other job they are already carrying? A good dispatcher answers that in seconds, from experience, hundreds of times a day. It is the single hardest thing to hire for, and the first thing that breaks when a courier grows.
What it does
It proposes the assignment. You keep the call.
The system reads the live state of the operation and works out where a new job actually fits — not just who is nearest, but what adding it does to everything already committed.
- The whole board, not one driver — the true cost of an assignment is what it does to the rest of the day. That is the calculation being automated.
